This is a common misconception since the shine makes the floor appear slippery. In reality, mechanically grinding the floor gets rid of high and low spots, which makes the surface less slippery than a VCT tile floor. Various testing procedures have shown that polished concrete floors meet and even exceed OSHA standards for slip resistance.
